"YOU really know how to make a noise, Brighton,  that was better than the O2 last night."

I bet 5SOS say that to all the girls - well, their audience is 90 per cent teenage females.

But the screaming for the Aussie rockers was so loud they probably heard it in Worthing.

5SOS - "No one says their whole name, Dad,", I was told - deserved it too. Handsome nice guys who can rock - it's a winning combination.

Their mix of Green Day riffing and Bon Jovi-style melodies wows the kids - like my ecstatic 14-year-old daughter - but is good enough to please sniffy parents too.

Opening with Carry On, they ripped through a 22-song, 90-minute show barely pausing for breath until after encore She Looks So Perfect. Perhaps just as well as, like great rivals 1D, onstage banter is not their forte.

Unlike Harry Styles & Co, though, they put on a slick, fun, high-octane show - and don't take themselves too seriously.

Singer-guitarists Luke Hemmings and Michael Clifford have the required rock-star charisma but brilliant drummer Ashton Irwin was the star of the night.

All in all a top show, particularly for the adults. All those teens meant no queue at the bar.
