Titillating and naughty from the outset, these performers from France delivered everything one might hope for from a burlesque cabaret.

“It’s not really theatre, it’s striptease,” said Valentina del Pearls. “You have to roll on the floor in ecstasy.”

The audience were too typically English for that and at one point were reminded: “You can clap, it’s free.”

However, the seated crowd did manage a few wolf whistles while they remained transfixed throughout the performances.

Le Burlesque Klub performed its retro brand of sexy and funny burlesque with glamour, glitter, sequinned masks and feather bowers a plenty. Little else was required.

Miss Glitter Painkiller performed a striptease down to tassles, and Kiki Beguin tantalised as she removed glowing illuminated skirts.

There were some male performers too, including Gonzalo de la Verga who stripped down to a strategically placed hat.

One act even included a tantalising lesson in “how to become the perfect woman”.

The performers, who were returning to Paris after the show, announced they will be back in Brighton next year, where they love performing their annual show.

The artistes appeared to enjoy themselves just as much as their onlookers.

All the acts were confidently performed to sumptuous music in what was a liberating show.
