ON what seemed like the first sunny summer's afternoon of the year Nitro Circus landed at Ardingly Showground, bringing some of the world's best stunt riders and two over-excitable American comperes along for the ride.
The packed arena of fans of all ages was treated to an array of aerial stunts over a 90-minute performance. A mixture of modified motorbikes, BMX and mountain bikes entertained the audience by flying through the air, seemingly out of control from the moment of lift-off, always pulling it back effortlessly before landing.
The more unusual stunts amusingly included backflips on a toy horse, jumps in a kayak, an old armchair, and the amazing skills of performer The Wheel (Aaron Fotherington) doing a front somersault in his wheelchair from one of the ramps.
The show was missing some of the pizzazz that it had on previous tours (no pyrotechnics or Travis Pastrana) but was still the perfect way to spend an afternoon in the sun.
