1) Photo-Punk Exhibition

As the UK punk movement celebrates its 40th anniversary, 40 photographs by Kevin Cummins and Ian Dickson will be displayed in Brighton. Focusing on the fashion and music of the 1977 cultural explosion, the exhibition hosts striking portraits of the Sex Pistols, The Damned and The Clash, left, and Joy Division. The gallery is not confined to UK rock, though – iconic New York punks The Ramones also feature in the exhibition.

2) Daniel Sloss

After first registering in the public consciousness as Frankie Boyle’s protégé in the mid-2000s, the Scot has carved his own path on the comedy circuit. At the age 2. of 16, Sloss was writing material for Boyle on wildly popular BBC panel show Mock The Week. He has been performing at the Edinburgh Fringe since his teens, selling out eight consecutive runs at the festival, and has become a familiar face on television. He is currently working on a pilot programme for Warner Brothers Studios, having embarked on an 80-date European tour last year.

3) Who Killed Santa Claus?

Nothing says festive cheer like a chilling psychological thriller, right? Barbara Love is the central character – a famous television star who is threatened in a phone call just before hosting her Christmas party. Shortly after, she receives a miniature coffin through the post. It becomes apparent that each staff member of her show has a motive to murder her. Starring Emmerdale’s Freya Copeland, left.

4) Julia Holter

Los Angeles singer-songwriter Holter takes an idiosyncratic approach to her music, blending boundaries between genres. She weaves classical 4. composition into a more orthodox indie sound, with electronic elements adding further complexity. Her critically acclaimed album Have You In My Wilderness was released last year, the singer’s her rich vocal giving the record a more intimate feel than any of her previous releases. Expect an eclectic display.

5) Laura Mvula

Soul singer Mvula comes to the South Coast off the back of the second Mercury Prize nomination of her career, this time for The Dreaming Room. A favourite with critics and music lovers alike, Mvula scooped two prizes at the 2013 MOBO awards (for urban music) and was shortlisted for the Critics’ Choice award at the Brits in the same year. A chance to see a performer at the peak of her powers.
