Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr fans were treated to a night of nostalgia by The Rat Pack Is Back! at the Congress Theatre on Sunday.

Crooner David Alacey, as Ol’ Blue Eyes, and Des Coleman. as Sammy Davis, repeated the tributes they gave at the 2004 Royal Command Performance, and were joined by Paul Drakeley's Dino.

But, while they got a lot of the mannerisms right, they could not quite recapture the voices. Alacey got very close, especially with For Once In My Life and New York, New York, but lacked Sinatra's charisma and charm.

Coleman, known as as actor for playing Lenny in Eastenders, may not have sounded like Sammy Davis, but used his powerful voice to good effect in fine renditions of What Kind of Fool Am I? and Rhythm of Life.

Drakeley, who did a good Bobby Darin impersonation, also impressed as Dean Martin when singing King of the Road and Ain't That A Kick In The Head.

Alacy wrote, devised and produced the show, which recreated some of the three legend's humour. It also included an excellent 10-piece orchestra directed by Don Hunt, two gorgeous show girls and guest singer Dawn Alacey.
