Seaford Little Theatre's revival of Alan Ayckbourn's 1975 comedy Bedroom Farce seems dated in the first act, with some jokes no longer relevant, but the humour comes shining through after the interval.

Talented Wendy Hiscox milks the laughs as young wife Kate, whose attempts to be alluring go unnoticed by her husband Malcolm (Jon Terry) as he tries to assemble flat-pack furniture in the middle of the night and only pays attention when accused of being boring in bed.

They are one of four middle-class couples with relationship problems, particularly the grossly selfish Trevor (Damian Sutton) and potty partner Susannah (Roxanne Lloyd).

Their irritating behaviour highlights their lack of sexual compatability - and that of two other couples - pain-racked Nick (Adrian Bowd) and his wife Jan (Sue Shephard), and the ageing Ernest (Alan Baker) and Delia (Mary Young).

Director Mary took over as Delia at short notice. She and Alan are in their element when doing the couple's most exciting thing in bed - eating pilchards!

Stage managers Gill Watson and Cicely Ridley deserve top marks for designing three impressive bedrooms side by side.

This far-fetched romp lags in the first act but when the pace and irony increases there are laughs aplenty.
