Five years ago, Seann Walsh was starting out on the comedy circuit in Brighton, having completed a comedy course at Komedia. Since then he has appeared on TV programmes such as The Comedy Roadshow and Eight Out Of Ten Cats, to name a few.

He stepped up to the mark again at a bustling Corn Exchange with a well-refined routine, battle-hardened by the rigours of the national comedy circuit.

There is a relentless energy to his set, jigging and jerking about a bare stage like a shambolic jack-in-the-box. When not shouting himself hoarse, he was lying down, bounding around, tripping over and dropping his microphone with the abandon of someone drunkenly cooking at 3am.

His act wasn't all physical theatre, though, and he had plenty to say.

A large portion of his stream-of-consciousness performance journeyed back into computer games and TV shows gone by. A brilliant reminiscence of The Crystal Maze struck a chord with everyone, especially when remembering the rigmarole involved in getting from the Aztec Zone to the Futuristic Zone.

He touched on the etiquette of computer games and the business of battling it out on a Sega Mega Drive. “Sonic!” someone shouted. It wasn't much of a heckle but Walsh made it count to good effect later on.

For all his tomfoolery, he left room for some humble words at the end. “It's a pleasure to come to the Corn Exchange, and for it to be sold out - it's a dream come true,” he confessed, before departing to rapturous applause.
