The Argus: Das Fenster

Das Fenster

From: Brighton

Influences: Bright Eyes, Brecht, Nick Cave, Neutral Milk Hotel, Kate Bush, Nick Drake and Joanna Newsom

Profile: This classically-influenced folk project draws its members from across Europe, with Eva Katherina providing her voice and both chilling and charming narratives to the five-piece’s arrangements.

Their music moves from the pastoral pine forests of East Germany, where Eva grew up, to the urban landscapes of Berlin. Their soundscapes mix Steve Elston’s acoustic guitars and keyboards with Christina Deyl’s double bass, Tim Cotterell’s violin and William Clover’s bassoon.

Their eerie melancholy is captured on debut EP This Old Book, Through The Magnifying Glass, released by Holmbush Records.
