Influences: Indian classical music, African drum rhythms, the 1960s, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Arcade Fire, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, David Bowie, Trilok Gurtu, Massive Attack, Faithless, Zakir Hussain and Nitin Sawhney.

Profile: A student of tabla, darabouka, djembe and drums for 20 years, Jules Franks is a veteran of the festival circuit, playing Glastonbury and The Big Chill with the band Jambience.

This year sees a change of direction on his new album Can We Return To The Heart. The six very personal tracks were originally poems written by Jules, who takes lead vocals and percussion on all the tracks. He is backed by a band including Darragh J Brady on keyboards, Guy Dollery on drums, violinist Rufus O’Brian and Jules’s sons Joel and Krista on guitar and bass.
