Fans of BBC Two series Tudor Monastery Farm can follow archaeologists Peter Ginn and Tom Pinfold and historian Ruth Goodman to take a journey back to Tudor times.

Historical interpreters The Tudor Group will be in residence over Easter at the West Sussex museum at Singleton near Chichester rehearsing their Easter Miracle Play and demonstrating how a 16th century family would have celebrated the festival.

There will be Easter cooking in the Tudor kitchen, egg painting, bonnet making and a traditional Easter Bonnet Parade on Easter Monday.

Mad Hatter’s Picnic Party

Balloonist Miss Ballooniverse joins the Mad Hatter, Alice and The Caterpillar for garden fun and games at Borde Hill’s Easter half-term picnic.

Fancy dress is encouraged and the most creative will be included in a competition, with judging at 2pm. Little Ritz will host a Vintage Tea Garden with homemade cream teas and cakes in the Rose Garden.

The centrepiece is the egg hunt with an educational trail to find the Easter Bunny, and the giant garden games.

Great Shark Easter Egg Hunt

Search for shark eggs instead of bunny eggs at Hastings’ Great Shark Easter Egg Hunt.

Special dried-out shark-egg cases, also known as Mermaids’ purses, will be hidden around the aquarium. Collect all the letters from the eggs to spell the magic word and anyone who solves the puzzle wins mini chocolate eggs.

As well as the shark-egg hunt, visitors can get face to face with some real shark and ray egg-cases and take part in a colouring competition with the chance to win a family membership.

Bear Hunt
Churchill Square Shopping Centre, Churchill Square, Brighton, Monday, April 21

Bears will be hidden in shops in Churchill Square at its giant Easter hunt. Easter Bunny Pawlette will be meeting adventurers and joining in.

Clues will be hidden in bears and once searchers have put them together they’ll be in with a chance to win one of five £15 Build-A-Bear Workshop gift vouchers.

Other events in the shopping centre over Easter include Thornton’s Harry Hopalot making an appearance. He’ll be delivering the chocolatiers eggs on Good Friday.

The Lego Store will be filled with bunnies hiding among the shelves until April 19. Count how many there are to win Lego sets or a family ticket to Legoland Windsor.

More eggs are hidden instore at The Entertainer, where prizes include £150 gift cards and Easter eggs.

Well-behaved children who have been good and walked the dog, cleaned their room or completed another chore could be in with a chance to win one of 30 Lego Treats or Reward Prizes, with events continuing until April 30.

The Passion Of Christ

The controversial portrayal of the days leading up to Jesus’s arrest, death and resurrection are performed according to the scriptures.

The Passion Of Christ, written and directed by James Burke-Dunsmore who played Christ for two years before handing the leading role over, features a volunteer cast and crew.

Greenfingers with a design eye can pick up hints, tips and products to improve their gardens at Firle Place’s three-day Garden Show.

There will be exhibitors in the park, marquees and gardens, and in the Old Georgian Riding School you can visit the Make It Scrumptious Cafe and the Firle Arts And Crafts Market.

The show, now in its sixth year, will also have daily Plant Doctor sessions with gardening journalists, Val and Steve Bradley, and talk and walk with Phil Fenech, head gardener at Firle Estate, on Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 3pm.

Hijack Children’s Festival – Ground Control

The ten-day festival for children aged seven to 11 heads into its final weekend with a world premiere by non zero one.

For the company’s first children’s show, 40 youngsters will be communicating with a computer called Futuretron to colonise a new planet.

So far, the company’s work has centred on choice and Ground Control will allow the youngsters to make decisions about everything from the planet’s national anthem to its social policy.

Each of the eight groups taking part in Ground Control will create their own world, deciding on the name of the planet and what they should build first.
