City Reads launches

WORLD Book Day marks the launch of both the 2016 City Reads for adults and Young City Reads, meaning bookworms across Brighton and Hove can launch into two exciting new books in a communal reading experience.
The chosen book for the adult City Read is Brighton-based Paul McVeigh’s The Good Son, which is set in 1980s Belfast at the height of the troubles. Over the next few months there will be related events to the book, ranging from a St Patrick’s Day whiskey tasting at the Regency Town House to a screening of Pat O’Connor’s 1984 film Cal on Sunday, April 24, the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising.
Meanwhile younger readers can join Hamish Ellerby in his battle against the Worldstoppers in a new book by Dave Gorman’s former flatmate Danny Wallace.
Both City Reads events culminate in May with author interviews as part of Brighton Festival 2016.
