ACCLAIMED restaurant group Polpo has introduced a new weekend brunch menu.

The Venetian style restaurant in New Road, Brighton, is serving dishes such as poached eggs and scafata, an Umbrian dish of broad beans and green vegetables in a light broth; and brunch pizzetta, with Italian salsiccia, wild mushroom, parmesan and egg.

Other dishes include smoked salmon and scrambled eggs; and wild garlic, mushrooms and ricotta, both on toasted sourdough.

As well as teas, coffees and juices, Polpo is also serving breakfast bellinis, a mix of Prosecco and peach puree, and bloody Mary.

Polpo is a modelled on a bàcaro, a Venetian humble restaurant serving simple food and good, young Italian wines.

The first branch opened in Soho in 2009, which has grown to 11 restaurants across London, as well as in Brighton and Leeds.
