ACCORDING to the Modfather himself: “White Room are definitely one to watch, and in lead singer Jake they have got a great young vocalist.”
Brighton alt-rockers White Room have not only supported Paul Weller at Warwick Castle Summer Sounds last month, but also worked with him at his Black Barn Studio. Below the band introduce themselves.
“We all grew up around Brighton together. Tristan and Hen Sava are cousins. We’ve been writing songs together as White Room for around one year now, after [bassist] James Bryman joined the band. [Previously the band, which also features Jacob Newman on guitar and Jake Smallwood on vocals, was known as The Basis].
“Making contact with Paul Weller happened by chance. Jake has always been a big fan and when his brother bumped into Paul they got chatting. Next thing we know Paul’s inviting us up to the studio after hearing some stuff and it went from there.
“It’s been a mad experience learning from the masters. They have aided in the natural development of our sound and we are very grateful for it. Our single Already Home was the song Paul first heard and it’s a summer banger. We won’t release an album until we’re ready.”
White Room play Going Underground at London's Hoxton Bar And Kitchen on Monday, August 18, from 8pm, and a free show at Liam Gallagher's Carnaby Street Pretty Green store on Saturday, August 30, from 5pm.
