Dubbed "the people's Pavarotti", Paul Potts caused controversy when he won ITV's Britain's Got Talent last year despite his classical training. But the unassuming Carphone Warehouse manager has won over the critics.

Paul first sang opera at the age of 28 for a karaoke competition, while dressed as Pavarotti. He went on to perform in Barrymore's My Kind Of Music where he scooped an £8,000 prize, enough to pay for vocal lessons in Italy where he performed for Pavarotti himself.

The tenor will present a programme of operatic classics including Nessun Dorma, the Turandot aria that made both him and his Italian idol a success.
