King Edward VII was a popular figure when he came to stay in Brighton and Hove during his short reign.
The monarch usually stayed with members of the Sassoon family in Hove near the seafront and in Kemp Town.
When he died in 1910, only a few months after his last visit to Hove, All Saints Church was packed for the memorial service.
Two years later in October 1912, a statue was unveiled by the Duke of Norfolk on the seafront border of Brighton and Hove.
Huge crowds came to see the King Edward VI monument, now widely known as the Peace statue.
