A nursery group raised hundreds of pounds after braving the rain to take part in a charity walk at the weekend.
Parents, workers and children from Little People By The Sea nursery walked from Hove Lagoon to Brighton Pier and back to raise money for Children in Need.
The nursery, based in Hove’s Medina Villas, left the lagoon at 10.30am on Saturday to take on the four and a half mile seafront route, with some walkers turning up in their best fancy dress.
Nursery manager Charlotte Earthey said: “We raised £500 for the charity, which is great news.
“I would like to thank all the children and parents who came and battled through the rain. Also, a huge ‘thank you’ to the staff for all their help and who gave 100% effort.”
The nursery is due to hold another sponsored walk this Friday and hopes the total amount of money raised is far bigger than the £500 they collected last weekend.
Abi Wyndham, 33, and her son Bobby, three, took part in the walk.
She said: “I was really impressed with the girls from the nursery who took their time and effort in putting on the walk.
“A rainy get-together on Brighton seafront isn’t anyone’s idea of a good Saturday morning but they made the day really enjoyable and fun for us parents and the kids.
“Bobby raised £130 for the walk which I’m very proud of him for.
“He worked hard to keep up with his best friends on their scooters and although he doesn’t understand just yet what charity is, he knows he did well to complete the walk and he had fun on the way.”
