Lighting up Brighton for Christmas

Brighton city centre sparkles spectacularly as this year’s Christmas lights are turned on.

Large festive crowds gathered in East Street to see the traditional ceremony, hosted by Juice FM’s Foxy and Dan Gasser.

Spectators at the event last night (November 15) were treated to a Latin flavoured evening with the Silver Sounds Samba Band, the Ole Ole Flamenco Dancers, the Juicy Dance Crew and Brighton Theatre Workshop Youth Voice Choir.

Santa Claus even took time out from his busy Christmas schedule to appear onstage with his trusted elves.

The lights were paid for by the businesses of Brilliant Brighton and feature new, super-bright LED bulbs.

The evening was in support of the Rockinghorse Appeal and The Argus Appeal.

It looks as though the council have pushed the boat it this year and spent all of £10. But I must admit they are saving for yet more cycle lanes.

I'm surprised the Greens haven't banned Christmas lights and that Ben Duncan is not stood with a megaphone denouncing a celebration of faith.
Boo hiss.

And in what year was this bag of crap stashed in the attic.
Looks total crap.
Probably spent a small fortune though.

They didn't pay for it, as it says in the story, businesses did!

Anyone else fed up with the dreadful 30 sec adverts you are forced (although I just don't bother looking at the vids anymore on here) to endure to get to some rubbishy video footage?

Sort it out Argus, we have NO interest in these ads.

Noticed the decs tonight as I walked through town. Looked nice, and well done to the businesses for getting together and funding them hope it pays off.

I thought we were supposed to be Brighton and Hove. If that is the case, then why do the xmas lights in Western Rd stop at the junction with Montpellier Rd. Businesses beyond the boundary pay their business rates and outrageous parking permits just like those in Brighton but they get kcuf all.
