Brighton group launch campaign to keep children warm

The Argus: Brighton group launch campaign to keep children warm Brighton group launch campaign to keep children warm

Campaigner are looking for donations to help children keep warm this winter.

Coats For Kids has been set up by Emma Daniel, who works for Brighton Community and Voluntary Sector Forum.

Brighton and Hove mayor Bill Randall is among those supporting the campaign.

A list of places where people can drop off clothing and coats will be published soon.

The clothes will be redistributed through not-for-profit organisations throughout the city which work with families.

However cash donations are not being asked for as the charity does not want to compete with other organisations in the city.

The idea has already caught on, with people in Norwich and the Midlands contacting the group about how to set up schemes.

A wonderful effort, but it does raise the question as to what kind of country are we living in where there is a need for a charity such as this?

My thoughts exactly ... Homelessness increasing, children needing coats for the winter. Kids, some as young as 11 years of age kept in a police cell because of mental health concerns.

Ah well, at least we bailed out the bankers

Why would they need winter coats when most of them seem to prefer walking about with little on and oblivious to the cold?
