Robber attacks customers during raid on Sidley shop
2:03pm Friday 7th December 2012 in News
A crowbar-wielding robber hit two female customers as they tried to stop him robbing a shop.
The robber fought off a shop assistant and the two women to make-off with about £100 from the Best One store in Ninfield Road, Sidley near Bexhill at just after 3pm on Thursday.
The man threatened the shop staff before jumping on the counter and grabbing the till which crashed to the floor as he wrestled with the shop assistant.
He then picked up the money and ran from the shop pushing two customers who attempted to stop him as he left.
It is thought he then jumped into a red car, possibly a Vauxhall Astra, parked in Buxton Drive which was then driven into Ninfield Road.
Police say the suspect is white, 5' 6"-5' 7", aged 23-27, of slim build and wearing a black hooded top with a grey hooded top underneath it.
Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 1005 of 06/12.
