Link road protestors and bailiffs put their differences aside last night (January 17) as they battled plummeting temperatures.
Activists protesting against the controversial Bexhill Hastings link road remained chained to trees and down tunnels with temperatures dropping to -5c.
Tunneler Simon "Sitting Bull" Medhurst, who yesterday afternoon locked himself in his metre high cavern, was allowed out overnight to escape the cold – only to return this morning.
In return, bailiffs and security officials who were keeping tabs on the protestors, were allowed round the camp fire to keep warm.
Protestor, Patrick Nicholson, said: “It was a bit like the Christmas Day game of football in the trenches in World War One.
“We still have people attached to trees and expect it to be a busy day.”
