A man had to be rescued last night (February 6) after plunging from a high tree he had decided to climb.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, clambered up the tree in woods off Wild Park, Brighton, at about 5pm.
A South East Coast Ambulance spokesman said: “It’s lucky he had his mobile phone with him.
“He has some injuries but they are not believed to be serious.”
The man called paramedics but it was so dark they could not find him. They contacted firefighters who used powerful flashlights to locate him.
Firefighters carried him to an ambulance waiting in the park. He was driven to hospital at about 6.15pm.
A firefighter said he was not sure why the man climbed the tree.
He said: “He was walking in the woods and he just decided to climb it, I think.
The man was wrapped in a foil blanket and carried on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance.
