Journalists staged a walkout to protest against planned job cuts.
Workers from BBC Sussex held placards outside the station’s headquarters in Queens Road, Brighton, yesterday morning (February 18).
They were taking part in a 24-hour strike which was staged to protest against compulsory nationwide redundancies at the corporation.
Due to the walkout, the understaffed morning breakfast show had to cover both Sussex and Surrey.
Michelle Stanistreet, the National Union of Journalists’ general secretary, said: “NUJ members across the BBC are taking action to defend jobs and quality journalism at the corporation.”
The BBC apologised to viewers for the “disruption to services” and said they were “disappointed” by the strike.
