A former Sussex Police officer is facing jail today after admitting selling confidential information to national newspapers.
Award-winning James Bowes, who worked as a sergeant in the Regency team in Brighton, previously pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to misconduct in public office in 2010.
The 30-year-old, who had received police awards for bravery, was released on unconditional bail to besentenced today.
Mr Justice Fulford warned him that the fact he had been given bail was “no indication” of what his punishment would be. No details of the case were given during the short hearing.
Bowes, of King’s Stone Avenue, Steyning, is said to have passed on information about investigations to News International titles between April 9 2010 and July 20 2010 while working for Sussex Police.
