Des Lynam has revealed he voted for Ukip in last week’s elections.
Speaking today Lynam said: "I was delighted to cast my vote for Nigel Farage's team in Sussex where I live.
"I feel they have something to offer the country as a whole, and Sussex."
Ukip leader Mr Farage said: "I am delighted to welcome Des's support in these elections."
In a humorous retort to Cabinet minister Kenneth Clarke's dismissal of Ukip as "clowns", Lynam has rewritten the lyrics of the Stephen Sondheim song Send In The Clowns.
Mr Farage promised that the party would sing the new version – featuring lines like “We used to be rich, now we are not/ But here at last there's a chance to stop the all rot/ Send in the Clowns" – at its South East conference on June 8.
