Three knifepoint robberies – two in the same road – are being linked.

In total a couple of hundreds of pounds has been stolen from three off-licences.

The most recent robbery took place in Threshers in St George's Road, Kemp Town, Brighton, at 9.10pm on Thursday – the same location where a different Threshers was robbed on Sunday, May 5.

During the first robbery a man entered the shop and approached the member of staff threatening her with a knife. The suspect stole money and left, heading west along St George's Road.

The following day, Monday, May 6, at about 9.45pm a man entered the Co-op store in Carden Avenue, Hollingbury, Brighton and threatened staff members with a knife. He once again stole money.

On Thursday he entered a Threshers again.

When the woman cashier said she could not open the safe the man showed her a knife and walked round to the cash drawer taking a small amount of cash.

The suspect fled the shop and headed north along Sudeley Place.

Detective Inspector Steve Warner said: "We are at this stage of our enquiries linking all three robberies.

“Thankfully no-one was hurt during the robberies but they have obviously been a frightening experience for all those involved. We are hoping that by releasing the CCTV image of the robbery on Thursday night someone might recognise this man and come forward.”

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, around 6ft and of a large build.

On Thursday he was wearing a deerstalker style hat, a light grey top and dark tracksuit trousers.

During the other robberies the suspect was described as having curly blond hair.

Anyone who saw this man or has any information is asked to contact police on 101.
