Tonight I saw Bianco. I walked through the wind and the rain along the seafront and my journey was definitely rewarded.

No Fit State has created a work of sheer beauty, underscored with a riotous, raucous energy. Bianco flipped between the playful and the magical, creating beautiful images then pulling them apart and pushing the crowd out of the way. Bianco is the perfect ensemble piece – the performers changed the huge scaffold set, rigged trapezes working together seamlessly. The distinction between the clowns, the jugglers and the acrobats that usually exists in circus was brushed away through a blending of aesthetics and performance style.

One of my favourite parts was seeing how one performer counterbalanced another allowing the suspended artist to ascend rapidly. The symbiosis between the artistry and technicality sang out throughout the piece.

The sheer astounding skill of the performers is certainly worth the ticket price alone, and when combined with the imagery, characterization, and music I can’t think of anyone who would be disappointed by NoFit State. Complete with a startling finale, Bianco will stay with me for a long time.

My flatmate said afterwards “I want to go again and bring everyone we know. Just to see their faces.“
