The Last Lectures is a double billed comedy show well worth dropping into. James Veitch gives an engaging account of his various email exchanges with scammers. He replies to the scams that usually just clutter up your inbox and leads the crooks on a merry dance, feigning ignorance and creating characters. He made me want to start playing some games of my own. Laugh-out-loud funny.

Stephanie Laing provides an insight into the embarrassing stories of an awkward lady bumbling her way through life. Laing delivered several nicely observed and absurd anecdotes of her social interactions.

During Stephanie’s set she asked for the single ladies in the audience to put up their hands (no Beyonce references, please) which caused a post show conversation between my friend and Essex Boy.

Essex Boy: Hi…which one of you is single? My mate wants to know.

Me: *gesture to my friend* My friend: Me.

Essex Boy: Oh, I was hoping for that.

My friend: Um…that’s rude.

Essex Boy: Nah nah it’s just my friend is more of a brunette kind of guy, not saying the blonde one isn’t fit…oh.

Me: My friend will go for a drink with you if you come to our Fringe show.

Essex Boy: Oh, ok, yeah *receives flyer* What?! It’s in The Old Police Cells…nah I can’t go there, I’ve been arrested so many times. I hate the police.

My friend: Ok then. ‘Bye.
