A grandfather who died in a mobility scooter accident will be “sorely missed” by his family.

The family of David Pilcher have paid tribute to the “beloved husband, father and grandfather” who died following a fall from his scooter on Thursday June 6.

The 82-year-old from Grange Road, Eastbourne, died from head injuries sustained in a fall from his mobility scooter at Gildredge Park gate in Moatcroft Road, Eastbourne.

A statement released by Sussex Police on behalf of the family said: "Remembering a beloved husband, father and grandfather who was taken from us suddenly following injuries received in a bad accident on his much-loved mobility scooter on Thursday June 6. “You will be sorely missed as you were a major part of our lives."

PC Stuart Watson, from the road policing investigation unit, said: "We are still very keen to hear from a woman who was seen reversing in a silver car with a baby on board. “This woman kindly came to the assistance of Mr Pilcher and we would like to speak to her to try and gain more information on what exactly happened.

"The woman is described as in her late 20s to early 30s , around 5' 5" tall, of slim build, with a bob-style haircut and wearing a pink jumper.”
