Residents and veterans alike were out in force at the weekend to mark Armed Forces Day.

Events were held across the county with Brighton and Hove’s centrepiece celebration held in Jubilee Square.

Representatives from all three services were on hand to speak to young and old about the role they have played in protecting this country over the years.

Staff from Brighton Museum also spoke to shoppers and encouraged them to contribute to a major exhibition being held next year to mark the centenary of the First World War.

Anyone with photographs, artefacts, newspaper cuttings or stories passed down is encouraged to visit the museum to contribute.

Elsewhere in the city staff at Specsavers, in North Street, held a Tarts for Troops Day with all money raised going to the Blind Veterans UK charity.
