Green fingered enthusiasts were given a rare chance to see inside one of Sussex’s largest greenhouses as part of a special festival.
Visitors flocked to Brighton’s Stanmer Park Palm House on Saturday for a “nosey” at the hundreds of exotic plants on show.
Built in 1952 for Brighton and Hove City Council it is now leased and managed by Plumpton College.
Tutor Jim Miller was on hand to answer questions about the contents and talk about the college’s work there.
The facility is used not only as a tropical house but also a cold room with temperatures dropping as low as -11C.
The greenhouse was opened to the public as part of the Brighton and Hove Open Gardens Festival.
