Householders are to be asked their views on everything from public transport to potholes as part of a national survey.
Brighton and Hove City Council is one of 70 local authorities taking part in the project by the National Highways and Transport (NHT) Network and the South West Highway Service Improvement Group.
From this week, a questionnaire will be sent to a minimum random sample of 6,000 residents in the area.
The results will be used to compare the city against other local authorities.
Ian Davey, the council’s lead member for transport, said: “This is not about producing a league table to champion one geographical area over another; it is about understanding customer views better and working together to deliver the best possible outcomes for local residents.”
The results of the survey are due to be published in early autumn.
