It is very worrying that some MPs have invited Lord Justice Leveson to answer their queries concerning press regulation.

Once a Law Lord has headed a transparent public inquiry, it must then be down to the legislature to draft a plan of regulation using expert counsel.

Expecting one of our senior judiciary to respond to MPs would erode the separation of powers of our constitution and set a dangerous precedent.

I hope the Lord Justice respectfully declines the invitation.
