Shoreham College pupils came back from the ISA National Athletics Championships laden with medals.

A haul of two gold, one silver and eight bronze, plus a new ISA National Record in the under-16 800m for Spencer Thomas, had the 25-strong team beaming all the way home.

The squad travelled to the Alexander International Athletics Stadium in Birmingham after they had qualified to compete at the South Regional Championships held in Bromley last month.

Ollie Edlin, head of sport at Shoreham College, said: “Seeing our pupils competing against the best in the country within the ISA community was an awesome sight to behold.

“Knowing that a small inde- pendent school like us on the south coast can really punch above its weight against the larger schools at a National Championships shows how much talent there is here at Shoreham College.

“I am so very proud of them all.

“The athletes put on a fantastic display with the experience standing them in good stead for future development.

“For some, an event of this magnitude can be a stepping-stone to a professional career, perhaps even giving them a chance to potentially train with Team GB.”
