A singer who shot to fame in the late 1950s as one third of a popular female vocal group has died.
Mother and grandmother Shirley Sangster, whose stage name was Shan Kaye, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 14, aged 74.
The Kaye Sisters wore trademark blonde fringe-cut hairdos and enjoyed a string of top ten hits.
They rubbed shoulder with many major celebrity names at the time and met the Queen.
The Kaye Sisters reformed in 1988 for a new tour which culminated in a performance at the Brighton Dome Theatre.
They were approached by the Glenn Miller Band to guest on its tour and over the next nine years appeared regularly with the band before their final show in 1999.
The funeral for Ms Sangster, who lived in Hove, is being held on Monday, August 5, at the Church of St Andrew and St Cuthman, Steyning.
