Thank you Dave Bonwick (Letters, September 5) for saying what so many North Portslade residents must be thinking.

The new sixth-form building in Chalky Road is truly hideous. You could forgive the building looming over the skyline if it was pleasing to look at but unfortunately it fails in every respect.

The blocks of colour which have been added (they don’t work) are reminiscent of the old King’s Manor School in Kingston Lane, which was demolished and replaced with the more impressive looking Shoreham Academy.

One can only hope, for the students’ sakes, that the inside of the building is better than the outside.
