Every day Tim Ridgway, local government reporter for The Argus, will bring you snippets of conference life from behind the security fence.

Former Brighton and Hove city councillor Kevin Allen was honoured by Labour leader Ed Miliband for 50 years of service at one conference event.

But given the number of doors he's knocked on during that time you would have thought Labour HQ could have got his name right, right?

Wrong.

A quick glimpse at his certificate showed he was down was “Keith Allen”.

Someone in Labour HQ is obviously a fan of 1980s Channel 4 programme The Comic Strip…

Labour's LGBT party on Saturday night attracted a big crowd and, as usual, the “Never Kissed a Tory” t-shirts did a roaring trade.

But there was no mention of anyone’s snogging stance on the Lib Dems…

One of Brighton's biggest tourist attractions got a nice bit of free publicity when BBC's One Andrew Marr show was shot with the Brighton Wheel as the backdrop on Sunday.

One delegate claimed: “Watching the Brighton Wheel is more compelling that listening to Ed Miliband.”

Ever wondered where all the top delegates stay?

Well a quick peek onto the itinerary held by the Labour leader's staff confirmed that Ed Miliband will be bedding down at the Hilton Metropole for the duration of conference.

Is that because the Grand is seen as too posh?

Rumour has it that is has been left to union leaders and journalists to populate the hotel most closely associated with the 1985 Tory conference.

Kudos to The Fed Centre for Independent Living.

Thanks to those at the centre in Montague Place, Brighton, mobility scooters have been provided to disabled delegates at the party conference.
