I wonder if transport minister Norman Baker said “price people out of cars” as printed or meant “prise”, metaphorically, of course (The Argus, September 23)?

Either way, he’s surely right that pedestrians spend far more than drivers on the high street.

I don’t pretend to know whether city parking charges are unreasonable or not but people should in general walk about more.

In that respect, at least, both the minister and our councillors are to be commended.
