A hoarder filled her house from floor to ceiling with charity donation bags left out on doorsteps in Ore.

Police were alerted to the mystery of the missing bags after beat bobby Chris Varrall and police community support officer Anna Eason chatted to old people at the Old London Road community centre in Ore.

They told the police officers that a woman had been seen gathering up the bags and dragging them away.

An investigation revealed the woman's identity, and when they visited her at home they found the bags "stacked floor to ceiling".

PC Varrall explained that the bags were not hers to take and should be given back to the charities they were intended for. The woman agreed and the bags are now being distributed among local charity shops.

The Hastings Neighbourhood Policing Team officer said: "This is a prime example of members of the Ore community pulling together to solve the mystery of the missing charity bags.

"It's nice to see all the clothing returned to the local community and to those that deserve them. The woman knows that what she did is wrong and no criminal action will be taken against her."
