Fire crews were called to a house blaze where it was feared residents were still trapped in the building.
Firefighters from Herstmonceux and Hailsham were called to the blaze at a home in the Hellingly Hospital redevelopment in Houghton Way, Hellingly, at just 6.30pm last night.
Crews using breathing apparatus and a hose put out the fire in the third floor flat and fortunately the residents had evacuated before the firefighters arrived.
