A motorist has died following a crash this morning (October 26).
Emergency services were called at 5.20am after reports of a single vehicle accident at the Shoreham bypass.
The road was closed eastbound between A283 Steyning Road and the A270 Upper Shoreham Road and the man was rushed to hospital.
The motorist, who police say was in his forties, later died of his injuries. He is yet to be formally identified.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “We are investigating at the scene and the road has been closed for some time.
“Thank you to the motorists for their patience. The off slip will be closed for sometime by highways for repairs to the barriers.
"Any witnesses please contact Sussex Police and quote Operation Frome incident reference 207/26/10/2013."
