The fiancé of a motorcyclist who died in mysterious circumstances has made a heartfelt appeal for information.

Kerry-Ann Theron, 30, suffered fatal injuries when she fell off her Yamaha bike while riding north along the Straight Half Mile near Maresfield on October 25.

The veterinary nurse, originally from Zimbabwe, was living in Manor End, Uckfield.

She was due to marry fiancé Steve Pronger next June.

He said: “We met when she became a neighbour and was pointed in my direction for help with a problem with her motorbike. I proposed to her in August and gave her a ring bought for a pound from the Festival of Transport – the real one followed soon after.”

He added: “Kerry wasn’t frightened to have a go at anything and would always get stuck in with a smile and a laugh.

“I have had some wonderful messages about her and they all mention her humour, her smile and that lovely red hair. I miss her terribly and I just want to understand what happened.”

Police, who are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, have suggested Miss Theron may have been the victim of a hit and run.

Mr Pronger added: “Kerry’s death remains a mystery as it seems unlikely that a simple fall at quite a low speed would have such tragic consequences.

“Police believe that there may have been another vehicle involved, perhaps quite innocently, and I would appeal to anyone who has the smallest bit of information that might help the investigation to get in touch.”

Mr Pronger told how in September he had travelled to Zimbabwe to meet her parents for the first time. He said: “Sadly, it has not been possible for them to attend her funeral and a service will be taking place near Harare for her friends and family in Africa. She used to head home to Zimbabwe for a three-month break from the English winter every year.”

Sergeant Bryan McCartney, from Sussex Police’s Road Policing Unit, said: “We’ve spoken to a number of people who were around Maresfield at the time that Kerry came off her bike and that has led us to believe that she may have been clipped by another vehicle after she fell.

"If you have any information, no matter how insignificant you may feel it is, please contact us on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Westwood.”
