The Argus: Traffic standstill in Hollingbury Traffic standstill in Hollingbury

UPDATE: A road which motorists were advised to avoid after resurfacing works caused gridlock has reopend.

The top end of Crowhurst Road was closed for resurfacing today leading to long queues in the area. Bus services 5B, 24 and 26 are also affected.

Argus sub editor Gareth Williams said: "It took me 45 mintues to leave the Asda car park this morning. I'd only popped in for a few groceries before work too."

Why did Gareth, the sub-editor, not park his car in the Argus car park and then walk to Asda ? I really don't believe it took 45 minutes to exit the Asda car park and go less than 200 yards to the Argus car park.

This from a sub-editor? Does the Argus IT system not have spelling and grammar checks?

Surely the traffic is "at" a standstill?

Woeful headline, again.

Oops, that was my fault.. Now corrected.

It did genuinely take him 45 minutes to drive about 200m though. That's why we've put it online.

Imagine being stuck in the Asda car park for an hour!

That's a quote from the Brighton and Hove Bus twitter account. Sorry, it's not entirely clear . . .

At least the picture is of the location and not taken from an internet library. Have the Argus employed a photographer?

A road being resurfaced in Brighton? Well that's a first for the greens, or are Asda paying for it?

I got stuck in that today and was not good. Took me 35 minutes to get from car park onto Carden Avenue then traffic ran freely, being a carer and with other calls to attend after delivering shopping it was a bit of a pain to say the least, think there's more to come so will avoid Asda for the time being!
