An elderly driver died after crashing his car into a wall yesterday afternoon (December 22).

The man, 81, who is yet to be named, was travelling north along St Helena Lane, Streat, near Hassocks, when he left the road.

He crashed into a low wall at the entrance of a property.

Witnesses told how he got out of the car before collapsing shortly after.

He died at the scene.

Emergency services attended at 2.45am.
