Police believe a burglar may have constructed a cover story involving a lost dog to look for homes to break into in Langley Green.

A homeowner found a window at his house in Martyrs Avenue had been broken into and the security light disabled at 6.30pm on Friday. The offender had not managed to get inside the property.

Police would like to speak to a man carrying a dog lead who was seen walking in Langley Green playing field and looking into the gardens of Martyrs Avenue homes.

The man is described as white, in his 30s and around 5ft 8in with short dark hair. He was wearing dark black rimmed spectacles and a black zip up bomber jacket.

Anyone with information should call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
