Oh dear, Green councillor Christopher Hawtree (Letters, January 14). Regarding dress codes, a bit of self-pride is necessary if you want to be recognised in public life.
If you are politically Green, you are at a disadvantage.
Even the Green Member of Parliament has to be reminded of the dress code to enter the House of Commons, while the leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, Jason Kitcat, does not show much dress sense for his position.
To administer the important job on the city council efficiently, you have to dress the part, not compare it with those in showbusiness.
