I was pleased to read that Brighton and Hove Friends of the Earth is campaigning for better bus shelters (The Argus, January 16).

Shelters play an important part in the public experience of bus travel.

I was surprised that the importance of seats in bus shelters was not mentioned. The only bus shelter on the east side of London Road in Brighton is near Rose Hill Terrace, with no seat. Why?

The next bus shelter is at St Peter’s Church. Shouldn’t each bus shelter also have a litter bin?

Some of them are quite sordid places to wait, with much rubbish scattered about.
