A possible reason that a driver is caught speeding every ten minutes in Sussex is because there is a large concentration of speed cameras in the county and the authorities appear to have an aggressive attitude towards motorists (The Argus, January 20).

Is there, for example, a greater number of accidents in Sussex compared with those counties which have no fixed speeding cameras?

Another view may be that it’s the easiest way to make money. It is also odd that the 40mph limit at the roadworks on Handcross Hill is not consistent with the 50mph limit on other major roadworks across the country.

I feel confident that, if all factors were considered, Sussex would be no better or worse for speeding than other counties.

But I’m no expert – I just have 30 years experience of driving all over the country.
