Brighton winter sports enthusiast to represent GB in naked sledding event
A budding winter sports enthusiast has her sights set on securing gold for Team GB next month – as part of their naked sledding squad.
Kirsty Bunning, from Brighton, is down to the final shortlist to be selected to represent her country at the annual World Championships in Germany.
The event planner is spending every spare minute acclimatising by standing next to her freezer and practising by sliding down the stairs in a sleeping bag.

The 24-year-old said: “I’ve always wanted to compete in a big sporting event so this seemed ideal.
“Taking my clothes off isn’t really a big deal. We’re all naked at some point and activities are always more fun when you’ve got no clothes on.”
She signed up for the event after spotting an advert on Facebook.
Events and activity specialists Chillisauce.co.uk launched an appeal for budding naked athletes to represent Team GB for the first time in the competition.
Remarkably they had some 500 applications which they whittled down to a shortlist of just 10.
Of the top 10 just one male and one female will be chosen to take part on February 15.
As well as Kirsty, full-time mum Vicki Fairman from West Sussex is also vying for a place.
The 28-year-old describes herself as not “averse to stripping down and getting naked” and “pretty darned good at sledding”.
Selling her other talents, she claims to be able to “down a pint quickly and belly dance”, which she says would make her a “smash-hit” at the after-tournament party.
Competitors will be pitted against 30 participants representing 15 different countries.
Racers are required to strip to just their underpants before heading down an 89 metre track on just a tea tray on skis.
The first male and female down the course will take away €1,000 and be named World Champion.
Kirsty, who is a veteran of the Brighton Naked Bike Ride, added: “I would love to be selected, it would be a dream.
“I’ve been practising on the stairs and chipping away at ice from the back of the freezer to get used to the cold.”
Voting to select the two competitors to represent Team GB ends on Friday.
