I noticed that the Letters page of The Argus on Tuesday, February 11, attracted conflicting opinions.
One correspondent wants a public road in a family seaside town to be used as a race track, when there is a purpose-built race track 25 miles away in the county.
Another correspondent regards the speed cameras along the A259 coast road, installed for the safety of pedestrians and car passengers, as cash cows. He believes there is a mobile camera located in Saltdean not being used for road safety – or is it disappointment that he didn’t observe it in time to correct his speed?
I am thankful, as a home owner, that the dreaded speed cameras are in use and that speeding fines are making a profit for the Government.
In this sense, our local council would be less inclined to raise council tax if there was more funding from the Government.
More cameras, less council tax. Hurrah!
