The saga concerning the existence of God or not continues as raised in the letter of Anne Scott (The Argus, February 20).

It is a debate that will continue until the return of Jesus Christ as prophetically promised in the Bible.

It will be at that time that all humanity will get the proof of God’s existence.

In the meantime is there any evidence for the existence of God? The Bible would suggest there is. The vastness and complexity of creation cries out that there must be a designer.

If order did come out of the Big Bang, who ordered it? Could it be God who is eternal? God also reveals himself in the Bible, which is a record of God’s dealings with mankind from the time of creation to the promised new heaven and new earth.

God has also revealed himself in Jesus Christ, who claimed to be God in the flesh and proved he was by many miraculous signs culminating in being raised from the dead after being crucified.

Perhaps the greatest proof is the millions of people throughout the world who have had a personal experience of Christ that has radically changed their world mind-set, even from extreme atheism.

Christians talk of God as their father. This is not a universal fatherhood but the special relationship through Christ as God “adopts” us into his family.

To be guided by a father you need to at least acknowledge him as father. As a father he has not left us to flounder but has given us the Bible to guide us, as well as the example of Jesus Christ.

Sadly few people really read the Bible or seek help in understanding it and even pass judgement on it, often dismissing it as irrelevant to 21st-century mankind.

It is a book that resonates today, if we have ears to listen.

Sadly the Bible predicts that mankind will never live in harmony and will continue to see the world being destroyed.

Yet the promise of the Bible, after the return of Christ, is a new heaven and a new earth. In the last book of the Bible, Revelation 21, verses 3-4, it says, “Now the dwelling of God is with men and he will live with them.

“They will be his people and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

“There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Now that is a promise worth investigating.
